Teachers should have been first in line for vaccines

This is something that's been really bothering me for a while now. We've all watched for a few months how the states have prioritized certain age groups and higher-risk populations getting the vaccine before others. Most of them I can agree with. But there's been one major flaw in pretty much every Group ordering I've seen. Teachers should have been in the first group of every state. It was all over the new nightly that people wanted their kids to go back to school. But those same people never mentioned protecting the teachers or attempting to get the pushed up in priority to get the vaccine. Why didn't they rally to get teachers pushed up? Instead they just kept yelling that kids should go back to school.

Just something I wanted to put out there. Teachers are now getting their vaccines all over the place, but only now that everyone else is getting them too.

I'm a little confused. The CDC categorized teachers as frontline essential workers in December. Did some (or all) states not put teachers in the first phase group to be eligible?

Yeah quite a bit of them. They kept getting pushed further and further from the front of the line. After all, it was the states that managed their guidance and eligible groups, not the CDC. So I guess alot of states just did it how they wanted to, which meant pushing teachers now and then yelling about how schools needed to be open. It's all so confusing.

I'll try to find a list of all the states that did this, but I know with certainty that atleast NC and SC did this. They are just now allowing teachers to get the vaccine (if they didn't have a preexisting health issue and whatnot).
